Wednesday food news, a day late

  • Asparagus risotto from the Minimalist, complete with video. (New York Times) Supposedly it's "laid-back risotto," meaning very little stirring.
  • The Silver Palate celebrates its 25th anniversary. (Some great recipes here.) Reading this story made me so happy! I remember making SP's raspberry streusel muffins when I was about 12. I recently got to interview SP co-author/owner Julee Rosso, who owns a B&B in Saugatuck--just up the road from my summer haunt--so I got to tell her that myself. Does anyone else out there have any Silver Palate memories? (Seattle Times)
  • Fiddlehead ferns in the Chicago Tribune.
  • Savory asparagus bread pudding from 101 cookbooks. I cannot wait to make this, and will be doing so after I purchase my asparagus from Kevin Eigel on Saturday at the North Market.
